UX/UI Design

Project: Heirloom
Role: UX & UI Designer
Client: University project
Brief: This project involved designing an online application enabling users to create and share their digital stories. The platform had to allow for various interactive storytelling elements, such as uploading images and arranging them into a sequence, adding text or audio to accompany slideshows, and writing titles and descriptions with relevant tags or categories. Once complete, users can publish and share their stories, providing a personalized and engaging way to connect with their audience.

The rationale behind Heirloom lies in its commitment to offering families a secure and intimate platform to capture, preserve, and share their children’s milestones.

In an age where traditional social media often lacks privacy, Heirloom was developed as a dedicated space tailored to the needs of modern parents who seek a more personal and controlled way to document their children’s journeys.

Acting as curators of their children’s memories, parents can invite family and friends to contribute, creating a collective narrative that celebrates their children's growth in a meaningful way.

The design process for Heirloom began with thorough research to understand the target audience's needs and pain points, alongside an analysis of competitors to gather industry insights.
Interviews were conducted to explore user preferences, concerns, and potential issues, followed by a qualitative data analysis.
Detailed personas and scenarios were developed to inform the design approach. The process included creating a taxonomy for content organisation, designing and testing low-fidelity prototypes through 'think out loud' sessions and refining the designs based on user feedback.

Ultimately, high-fidelity prototypes were developed, incorporating insights from all stages of the design process to ensure a user-centric and intuitive platform for capturing and sharing family moments.
